Biography
Mehdi Shafiei was a construction worker who was killed on January 9, 2026, during protests in Ghaemieh, Eslamshahr, by a live bullet to his heart. Unbeknownst to him, his son Mani was also killed while searching for him. His body, along with Mani's, was transferred from Kahrizak after his family paid 500 million Toman, and they were denied burial in Tehran. They were subsequently buried in their ancestral village of Chenar, Asadabad, Hamedan, where people gathered and chanted anti-government slogans.
مهدی شفیعی کارگر ساختمانی بود که در ۱۹ دی ۱۴۰۴ در جریان اعتراضات در شهرک قائمیه اسلامشهر با شلیک گلوله جنگی به قلبش کشته شد. او بیخبر از کشته شدن پسرش، مانی، بود که همزمان در جستجوی پدرش جان باخت. پیکر او به همراه پسرش مانی، پس از پرداخت ۵۰۰ میلیون تومان و ممانعت از دفن در تهران، از کهریزک تحویل گرفته شد. آنها در نهایت در روستای پدریشان، چنار در اسدآباد همدان، به خاک سپرده شدند و مردم در مراسم آنها شعارهای ضدحکومتی سر دادند.
